Arbour House

London, England. In progress.

Situated in a rapidly changing urban environment in south London, this project seeks to redress a lack of available outdoor space, with the provision of a large terrace and garden room at roof level. The new volume, formed as a mansard to match the pitch of the adjacent historic pub, is shrouded in fine metalwork tracery. This has the dual purpose of providing a clear, contrasting volume to the existing house, whilst also providing a substrate for climbing plants to envelop the new spaces in nature.
